Planning provider spend for owned keys? Read the bring your own keys rank tracking use case before choosing schedule volume.
A rank check is one keyword in one location on one device. Frequency multiplies that run volume into a monthly SERP provider spend estimate. Provider usage is at most checks x pages(depth), where pages(depth) is ceil(depth/10); the default stop-on-match setting usually uses fewer provider units.

keywords
Every tracked keyword starts one logical rank check for each selected location.
Locations
locations
Country, region, city, or language variants each create their own SERP snapshot.
Devices
devices
Desktop and mobile rankings are separate checks because Google can return different results.
Runs/month
daily=30 / weekly=4 / monthly=1
Daily tracking uses 30 runs, weekly uses 4, and monthly uses 1 for estimation.
Competitor positions are read from the same SERP snapshot that finds your own URL, so adding competitor domains does not create extra provider checks.
Paid provider request
1 snapshot
One keyword, one location, one device, and one scheduled run create the paid SERP request.
Included reads
Your URL and competitor URLs are parsed from that same result set.
Adding tracked competitors changes reporting and comparisons, not provider volume.
SERP provider pricing usually falls into one of two shapes: every check has a unit cost, or a monthly plan includes a search allowance.
| Model | Example | Cost basis | Tradeoff |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pay-as-you-go per check | DataForSEO | Each check is priced from the provider pages needed for its configured depth. | Good for small or spiky workloads because the provider bill follows actual volume, with no plan step-up. |
| Subscription plan with included volume | SerpApi | A monthly plan includes a fixed number of searches; higher volume moves to the next public plan. | Good for predictable workloads, but your effective cost per check changes at each plan threshold. |
Bisibility can stop scheduled rank checks once monthly provider spend reaches the workspace budget cap.

Short answers about provider pricing, monthly volume, budget caps, and what Bisibility records after checks run.
DataForSEO Live pricing depends on configured depth: Top 10 is about $0.002 per check ($6 for 3,000 daily checks), while Top 100 is about $0.0155 per check ($46.50 for the same 3,000 checks). The first page uses the base rate and each additional page costs 75% of it.
SerpApi is modeled with five public monthly tiers: Free is $0 for 250 searches, Starter is $25 for 1,000, Developer is $75 for 5,000, Production is $150 for 15,000, and Big Data is $275 for 30,000. One Top-N check uses up to ceil(N/10) searches, so Top 10 uses up to one search and Top 100 uses up to 10, usually fewer with the default stop-on-match setting. Enterprise pricing is custom and not included in the calculator.
The calculator multiplies keywords by locations by devices by runs per month. Daily uses 30 runs, weekly uses 4, and monthly uses 1. It then uses checks x pages(depth), with pages(depth) equal to ceil(depth/10), as the worst-case provider-unit estimate; stop-on-match often lowers actual usage.
No. Competitor positions are read from the same SERP snapshot as your own keyword check, so they add zero additional provider checks.
Yes. Desktop and mobile are separate device contexts, so tracking both devices runs two provider checks for each keyword and location.
Pay-as-you-go pricing charges a unit rate for each check you run. Subscription pricing charges for a monthly plan that includes a search allowance, so cost changes when your usage crosses plan thresholds.
Yes. Every workspace starts with a $50.00 default monthly SERP provider spend cap, and workspace owners or admins can change it anytime in Settings > Provider usage.
Yes for the self-hosted app: Bisibility is open source under the AGPL. It uses bring-your-own provider keys and does not resell SERP data, so you pay the provider directly with no Bisibility markup. A managed cloud offering is on the roadmap and will be priced separately; this calculator estimates SERP provider spend only.
The calculator uses provider rates stamped with a checked-on date, then the app records the provider-reported spend for every completed check. DataForSEO refunds unused requested depth automatically, so real per-check cost can be slightly lower.
Frequency is the main multiplier after keyword, location, and device count. Daily tracking is modeled as 30 runs per month, weekly as 4, and monthly as 1.
In the self-hosted app, connect your own provider keys, keep billing direct, and let Bisibility record provider-reported spend for every rank check in your database.
